Benjamin Petrovic

Benjamin Petrovic is a Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Lead at the Menzies Anxiety Centre, and a PhD candidate at Macquarie University. He is also a Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor, holding a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University.

Benjamin has extensive experience working with a broad range of anxiety and mood-related concerns, with a particular clinical focus on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He works across the full range of OCD presentations, including contamination concerns, intrusive harm-related thoughts, fears of responsibility, “just right” experiences, and distressing sexual, religious, moral, identity-related, relationship-based, and existential obsessions.

Benjamin’s therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. He places strong emphasis on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, recognising this as central to meaningful and lasting change.

Benjamin integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy (ST), tailoring treatment to each individual’s needs and goals.

He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT), and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).

Benjamin’s PhD research focuses on understanding the causes of loneliness, with the aim of informing interventions that enhance social connectedness and improve mental health outcomes. In addition to his clinical work, Benjamin has published peer-reviewed research on death anxiety and mental health. He has been an invited speaker at the University of Sydney and has contributed to media discussions on anxiety disorders, including interviews on ABC Radio.

Benjamin offers appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
